This week’s Tell All Tuesday is actually a rave review for a young adult/ future children’s classic book that I read over the weekend. I normally don’t go for lighthearted, easy reads, but when I saw the cover of this book – complete with a Paris skyline – I couldn’t resist. Thankfully so, because this is probably going to be my favourite read of 2015.
This review is not going to contain any spoilers – mostly because I think EVERYONE should read it. It tugs at the heartstrings; it’s whimsical, inspiring, and has clever wit that made me laugh out loud.
The story is about a brave little girl who was raised to “never ignore the impossible.” She was orphaned as an infant and brought up by a quirky and brilliant man that went against convention and allowed the child to express herself and be the beautiful, unique person that she is.
This book definitely reinforces some very valuable life lessons that I think a lot of grown-ups need reminding of. It’s about exploring, finding yourself, being grateful, boldly facing challenges, and opening your eyes to the world around you.
Here are some of my favourite quotes from the book:
““You have been the great green adventure of my life. Without you my days would be unlit.”
“It’s like they’ve forgotten everything important, isn’t it? I mean, forgotten things like cats and dancing exist.”
“Keep your secret, then, my darling. Everybody needs them. Secrets make you tough and wily.”
Have you read any really great books lately? Let me know, so I can add them to my summer reading list!
