how is summer almost over?

how-is-summer-almost-over | alltheamusement.comI can hardly believe that it’s mid-August already. Where did the summer go?! Life has been quite busy since my last post, and I anticipate nothing but the same in the coming weeks and months. I’ll try not to neglect you, dear readers, too much. Today, I’ll give you a brief update on what’s been goin’ on, and also let you in on some things that are coming down the line.

Since I haven’t had a chance to post my One + Four = Life posts for a few weeks, I’ll start there. I did do my weekly round-ups, that you might have seen on Facebook or Instagram, but here’s a recap:

I’ve been super lucky the past few weeks and have ended up getting a bunch of freebies! I got VIP Peterborough Music Fest tickets to see Rick Fines (who was amazing!), and tickets to go see my first Peterborough Lakers lacrosse game. My dad also got a couple free tickets from a stranger, so we got to go enjoy my second game together, too!

My weekends have been really enjoyable. A few weeks ago, I spent some quality time with my parents up north. We checked out the beach, yard sales, enjoyed great company around the campfire, and had a lot of laughs. I also got a lot of reading in, which was nice for a change (and great for my Goodreads 2015 Reading Challenge progress). I actually couldn’t put down The Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill for any extended period of time. If you haven’t read it yet, it’s an absolute must – I have a gorgeous illustrated edition to lend out, if you’re interested 🙂

A few other ‘firsts’ happened in the last few weeks:

  • I went glow-in-the-dark mini golfing
  • I bought mittens and a fall jacket in August
  • I tried sausage with blueberries in it
  • I used one of Peterborough’s Little Free Libraries to both drop off books and pick up one to read
  • I went to a wedding in a barn and celebrated the love of two very special people
  • I saw the Pyroflys perform Caribbean Fest (I’ve seen him perform before, and I’ve been to the festival before, but this was the first that I’ve gotten to enjoy them at the same time!

The weeks have also been filled with morning dates with my mum, working, catching up with lovely friends that I haven’t seen in a while, preparing myself for change by mediating more (using a great app called Calm), and filling my life with motivation quotes. Oh, and I wrote a new post over on So Fawned Lifestyle blog, all about streaming Instagram with the #Cube – check it out! I’m hoping that you’ll get to see more of me over there in the coming months, too!

So what changes are in the works? Well, for starters, I might be moving. This isn’t 100% confirmed yet, but Sean and I are really excited about creating a home together that is filled with warmth and love and candles (because hydro is not included). We didn’t think it was going to happen so soon, but… I’m pretty sure this is a once in a lifetime opportunity! I did get to spend some time last week in our potential future home, and it is perfect. It has already been dubbed with a nickname by my mum (“The Treehouse”) – so hopefully we’ll be welcoming our friends and family there soon!

Lastly, I am preparing myself for new work opportunities. My short-term human resources contract is quickly coming to a close (*blink* three months are over?!), and I’m ramping up for new challenges that are on their way. This is a little scary, but also really exciting. I’ve gained great experience, and gotten to work with the most amazing and supportive team. Now, I just have to take all I’ve learned and make the world a better place!

I am so thankful to have such wonderful people in my life. People that give me strength, courage, wisdom, and support. You make it all worth it.

Love, love, love.
