today is not a birthday

Today is one of those days – a day that will be a reoccurring milestone every year which reminds me of a life gone by; of the struggles and the heartbreak I survived; of the tough decisions I made to completely alter my life’s path.

At times like this, it’s really easy to start thinking about the “what ifs” and the “if onlys.”  What if I went through with it? What if that was my only chance at motherhood? If only I never said yes – I love you – I miss you, too. If only he loved me. welcoming a year of positive verbs

Can you believe it? 2014 is here! How do you feel about last year being over? If you’re like me, you’ve never been happier to see the start of a new year and to throw that old calendar in the trash.

Although I’ve been feeling a little under the weather and didn’t quite ring in the New Year as my youthful self was hoping for (think noisemakers, champagne in excess, high heels and fake-eyelashes), the way it ended up was absolutely perfect. I spent it surrounded by love: my family, my wonderful boyfriend and his family that have welcomed me into their lives. I enjoyed lunch with my best friend, drinks at my favourite bar, took in the beauty of the night sky, a midnight struck by candlelight. Continue reading
