Despite spending a lot of time at home – catching up on work, sleep, and keeping a close eye on my dad – I had a surprisingly good week. Here’s a few highlights:
1. Aztec Calendar Stone – Last weekend, Sean and I enjoyed a nice Sunday drive out to Primitive Designs in Port Hope. What a cool spot! It’s just like being transported around the world to local markets in Thailand, Mexico, India, and more! I fell in love with the giant Buddha sculptures, and the Aztec Calendar Stone (pictured above).
2. Cold Brew – While I was working away at my local Starbucks mobile office space, I was offered a cute mini sample of their new cold brew. It was pretty strong stuff, but I decided that the next time I’m in, I’ll pick one up instead of my typical unsweetened iced coffee with cinnamon.
3. Happy Mail – I got two exciting shipments in this week! The first was my Raw Spice Bar June spice batch, made up of flavourful Jamaican spices! It included Jamaican jerk, mango salsa spices, and Jamaican sweet spices. I can’t wait to get cooking with them. The next shipment I received was completely unexpected – a framed certificate that identifies me as a Certified Human Resources Professional from the HRPA!
4. RibFest – On Friday, I enjoyed an all-meat dinner down at the annual Rotary Rib Fest in downtown Peterborough. This was the first time that I actually went with ribs – and I’m a big jerk and went with the non-local, rib carnie variety (The SmokeHouse Bandits). We followed that up with a visit to Le Petit Bar for cocktails and a lovely watermelon rosewater crème brûlée. Yum! Local tourism at its finest!
